Dogs Around the World: Ivan (Anchorage, Alaska, USA)

My first guest is… drumroll!

My brother Ivan (Italian Spinone, of course) from Anchorage, Alaska.

Yes, my friends, this one is a traveller and explorer too - it runs in the family. As a puppy, he made a journey by several planes from Chelyabinsk in Russian Siberia through New York to his forever home in Anchorage, Alaska, USA. 14 000 km! That’s quite an endeavour!

Fun fact 1: my Helsinki, Finland, and Ivan’s Anchorage, USA, are situated at almost the SAME LATITUDE with just a 1 degree difference. 60° 11' 31.4124'' N and 61° 13'

2.5716'' N respectively. We only have 6506 km between us. We have the same amount of day light (or the lack of thereof in winter). Fortunately, here it is not THAT cold.

Fun fact 2: I have squirrels, Ivan has BEARS! Black bears and grizzly bears. 200-300 of them live IN the city. Brr! But my bro is brave and fearless! He is not afraid of an occasional bear or two!

Fun fact 3: Ivan’s got EARTHQUAKES! They do happen quite often, and in November 2018 my brother survived a severe 7.0-magnitude earthquake! Alaska also experienced the second-largest earthquake to ever hit the US - a 9.2-magnitude in 1964.

I don’t have earthquakes! When I had a renwoofation of our house and house started to rumble, I admit, I escaped, my tail between my legs, to my hoodad’s lap - immediately. Great respect to my brother!

Fun fact 3: Our hoomums were born on the same date! Imagine that - they share a birthday! Spooky!

My bro is just vibing in there now! He's having the time of his life! Cold fluffy snow, breathtaking mountain views, swimming in cold mountain lakes, friends to hike with - what a life!

Ivan is a loving and caring brother too. I’ve got really nice presents from him twice! A beautiful bowl to drink from (there is a little misunderstanding here - hoomum says it is a cup for her) and a photo book - to dream about Alaska.

I'm guarding my bowl that my bro has sent me from Alaska. Hoomum wants it!
